Bath tubs haven’t really changed all that much in the past fifty years. It’s about time for an innovation of luxury, don’t you think? Japanese company INAX agree with you. They’ve unveiled a luxury bath tub recently that is priced at ¥7,927,500 (about US $93,450).
The exterior of the bath is covered with 10-millimeter tiles of 24-karat white gold. The interior features all the accouterments you’d expect from a high-end bathtub. It’s available for order on October 1st and units will ship early next year. Order here.

The Orbis shower module by Hugh Thomas is a finalist from the innovative product design competition. It really is something. It creates a 180-degrees spray from overhead, side and underneath spray units. There are six multichip LEDs positioned on the interior ceiling of the module to soothe your senses with the colorful mood lighting. Also, the LEDs are going to last over 100,000 hours so no worries on that front. You can even mount the entire unit on the wall for an extra futuristic look.
It’s just a design finalist for now, but who knows. Maybe one day we’ll all have our own Orbis.

The Transtube 360 from Spanish bathroom maker Roca just may transform the way we look at bathing. This perfectly rounded shower cubicle, which looks like it stepped off of the set of 2001, features a rotating door sans hinges, screws and handles. How does one get in you might ask? Simple. Motion sensing technology. The future is here. This thermostatic stainless steel tower also, due to it’s water delivery system, helps to save water and energy. This is a big day for bathing in luxury and style. Italian manufacturer Carmenta has officially released their Revolution shower cabin. This thing has so many bells and whistles, it’s more a wellness center than a simple shower cabin. Revolution is a full steam bath, sauna and shower in one luxurious package. It also features an in-house LCD and full iPod integration. The photo also shows off the LED lights that makes the whole thing pop. Carmenta also allows you to mix and match features with some of their other makes and models. Build the bathroom of your dreams.
Why relax in the past or present when you could relax in the future? Japanese company Spiritual Mode has dipped a toe in the waters of 2020 with their futuristic Beignet bathtub. The beautifully realized round shape looks like something out of Woody Allen’s “Sleeper.” The dual metal taps and nozzles are also something out of what was formerly science fiction. In short, this thing is cool. Life is hectic lately, let’s unwind with a nice bath. Now where’s our robot slave?
Famed high-end home furnisher iB Rubinetterie is back with a series of interesting shower heads. They purport to emulate a psychedelic rain shower, complete with everchanging colors. The units are available in a modern chrome finish with a choice of a 280 mm square design or a 600 mm round design. You can even customize the water jets, from a gentle spray to a torrential rain storm. This, coupled with the aforementioned light show, are sure to keep you in your bathroom long after your many parts are cleaned. Pricing has yet to be announced.
The humble showerhead has gone far too long without a redesign. One might say the redesign proved to be elusive. You know what else is elusive? Squids! Yes. That sure was one ridiculous segueway.
UK company Vado has released a powerful new showerhead that takes it’s inspiration directly from the giant squid of lore. The unit features six flexible tentacles that can be pointed anywhere you want. It’s like having your very own giant squid slave that you’ve, um, filled with an endless supply of water. Ok.
